'Major' law enforcement activity at Mahany Park in Roseville, officials say

(KTXL) -- The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said there is "major activity in Roseville on Pleasant Grove Boulevard" on Thursday afternoon. The sheriff's office said they are assisting in any way possible. These are the non-emergency phone numbers for law enforcement agencies in the Sacramento area The Mahany Fitness Center and the Martha Riley Library has been closed and locked down, according to Roseville Parks, Recreation and Events. All staff, visitors and children in camps are safe. Flight Radar shows that the California Highway Patrol and the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office have helicopters flying in the area around Woodcreek High School and Mahany Park. ABUJA, Nigeria (AP) — Gunmen have killed at least 50 people during two attacks on a village in north-central Nigeria, authorities said Thursday.Ruben Bako, chairman of the Otukpo local government where the massacre happened, said that gunmen killed 47 people on Wednesday in Umogidi village in Benue state. A day earlier, three other people had been slain in the same place, he said.Anene Sewuese with Benue state police confirmed that attack and said that the assailants had open fire at a market. However, Sewuese put the death toll at eight people, including a police officer.The motive of the attacks was not immediately clear, though authorities said they believe both attacks were connected.
