DENVER (KDVR) — Strong to severe thunderstorms return in the Denver weather forecast Thursday ahead of a sunny weekend. Thursday is a Pinpoint Weather Alert Day for more rain and possible hail.Just after noon, the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 9 p.m. for Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, Elbert, El Paso, Jefferson, Larimer, Lincoln, Logan, Morgan, Washington and Weld counties.Pinpoint Weather Alert Day on June 22 Red Rocks hail storm: Nearly 100 concertgoers hurt The main concerns with Thursday's thunderstorms will be heavy rainfall, hail, damaging wind gusts and abundant lightning strikes returning in the afternoon Weather today: Afternoon thunderstormsAnother round of thunderstorms will move in on Thursday. There is a slight risk of those storms becoming strong to severe, especially in the afternoon. Aurora man accused of roadside murder in Lakewood

DENVER (KDVR) -- An Aurora man is in jail, accused of shooting and killing someone along 6th Avenue in Lakewood earlier this week.The Lakewood Police Department said Randy Jiron, 40, of Aurora is being held at the Jefferson County Jail on suspicion of committing first-degree murder. 8 charged with up to 88 counts each in alleged group theft, drug ring Police said they responded to 6th Avenue and Simms Street on reports of a shooting around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Witnesses said the victim, a transient man identified as 52-year-old Craig Bruce, was soliciting on the side of the road when a vehicle pulled up and the man inside shot him, according to police.When police arrived on the scene, they said they found Bruce suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital where he later died.Lakewood PD and the Adams County SWAT team found Jiron at a home in Strasburg where police said he eventually surrendered and was taken into custody.

5 hospitalized after multi-vehicle crash on SR-836 causes small fire

Several victims were rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital after a multi-vehicle crash on State Road 836 in Miami caused a small fire on the highway. Officials said five people were hospitalized after a collision occurred along the eastbound lanes of the highway near Northwest 42nd Avenue, at around 11:40 p.m., Wednesday. Florida Highway Patrol troopers, along with City of Miami Police and Miami-Dade Police units, responded to the scene of the crash.According to FHP, the crash involved at least two motorcycles and five vehicles.One person recorded a video of the scene as they passed by the area and captured one of the motorcycles engulfed in flames on the shoulder of the highway. PASCO COUNTY, Fla (WSVN) — Crews came to the rescue of a pet in Pasco County after his owner caught him horsing around in the family pool.Pet horses Moe and Huey were playing in their yard when Moe thought it might be a good idea to attempt to leap over the pool.He ended up all wet, and the firefighters arrived to lift him out.Moe’s owner, Cindy Buckel, called the pool rescue a first and hopefully a last.“You’re a survivor. Yes, and now I know I can add that to my list of equine stuff, water rescue,” she said as she spoke to her pet. Buckel later said Moe’s leap would’ve likely gotten a “10” from judges if it was a diving contest.

Tyngsboro daycare worker accused of taking nude photos of children

A Tyngsboro daycare employee was arrested Thursday on child exploitation and child pornography charges.Lindsay Groves, 38, of Hudson, New Hampshire, worked at Creative Minds, and prosecutors allege she took photos of nude children and shared them with an individual for over a year, from May 2022 to June 2023. Groves took the photos of children who appear to be about 3 to 5 years old during bathroom breaks and diaper changes. She and the individual, who she was previously in an intimate relationship with, exchanged over 2,500 text messages including the images.Officials said the investigation is still ongoing, and Groves, who is in custody, will appear in federal court in Boston.This is a developing story; stay with 7NEWS on-air and online for the latest updates.
