Orange County Transportation Authority declares emergency over threatened track in San Clemente

The Orange County Transportation Authority has declared an emergency related to a sliding hillside in San Clemente that has threatened a railroad track and led to the intermittent halting of train service in parts of Southern California.The OCTA Board declared the emergency Monday, just days after the land beneath the historic Casa Romantica cultural center began to slip away, sending dirt and rocks onto the train track below. The emergency vote will allow OCTA CEO Darrell E. Video taken early Monday shows street racers taking over three South Los Angeles intersections.Between 12 a.m. and 2 a.m., several cars were recorded doing donuts as people hung out of cars and spectators watched or filmed the dangerous stunts.Fireworks also went off at one of the takeovers, the video from a freelance photographer showed.A street takeover in South Los Angeles. Multi-Vehicle Accident near Grangeville Boulevard Left 1 DeadFRESNO, CA (June 12, 2023) – A 25-year-old man lost his life Friday afternoon multi-car collision at Highway 43.The accident happened at about 1:00 p.m. on May 5th, just north of Grangeville Boulevard.According to California Highway Patrol, a Nissan driver was traveling northbound on Highway 43 at an unknown speed when he veered to the right onto the dirt shoulder and overcorrected.As a result, he sideswiped the cab of a semi-truck on southbound Highway 43 before spinning into the path of a Chevrolet.Responding officials arrived and pronounced the driver of the Nissan, only described as a 25-year-old Fresno man, dead at the scene.Meanwhile, the other drivers have no reported injuries sustained from the crash.At this time, it is unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. (BCN) -- A man on probation was arrested Monday in San Rafael for allegedly possessing a stolen firearm and methamphetamine following a traffic stop. Police said that when a patrol officer approached the man's black Dodge Charger after noticing the car's modified and illegal tail lights, the driver ran a red light.However, the unidentified driver proceeded to pull into a gas station at Grand Avenue and Third Street, where the officer made a traffic stop. Additional officers arrived to assist with the traffic stop.After the officer noticed the man behaving "oddly" and acting nervous, he asked the suspect to step out of the vehicle and saw the man adjusting his waistband, police said.The officer observed a silhouette of a firearm in the man's pants when the waistband was being adjusted, according to police. (BCN) -- San Jose police are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found at the Newby Island Landfill June 2. Pedestrian dies after being hit by car in San Jose

(KRON) -- A collision between a vehicle and pedestrian left one person dead in East San Jose on Monday morning, according to the San Jose Police Department. Officers responded to the scene at 8:04 a.m., according to SJPD. 1 dead, 6 injured in shooting at Antioch birthday party The crash occurred near McKee Road and Jackson Avenue. The pedestrian was identified as a man who suffered life-threatening injuries. He was declared dead at the scene. The man was struck by a 2008 red Lexus sedan traveling west on McKee. The pedestrian was walking north across McKee, outside of any marked crosswalks, police said. The driver of the Lexus, described as an adult man, remained on the scene and is cooperating with investigators. The victim's identity will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office and confirmation and notification of next of kin.This is the 20th fatal collision and 21st traffic death in San Jose this year. This is also the 13th pedestrian death of 2023.
