CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago White Sox recalled top prospect Oscar Colás from Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday, confident the Cuban outfielder will perform better than he did at the start of the season.The 24-year-old rookie made the opening day roster, only to get sent down after struggling. He hit .211 with a homer and seven RBIs in 25 games in his first stint in the majors.Colás had been excelling at Charlotte, with a .293 average, nine home runs and 29 RBIs in 48 games. He was on a tear with an eight-game hitting streak, going 13 of 33 with six homers in that stretch.General manager Rick Hahn said it wasn’t just the production. Young man died after fall at a Rocky Mountain waterfall

ESTES PARK, Colo. (AP) — A 25-year-old Rhode Island man died after falling and being pulled underwater at a waterfall in Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park on Sunday, according to the National Park Service. The man from Providence has not yet been publicly identified and his body was recovered Sunday evening, officials said. Rocky Mountain National Park covers over 400 square miles (1,036 square kilometers) of rugged mountains and high tundra, drawing typically over 4 million hikers annually. The deceased man fell at West Creek Falls, on the east side of the park. The body was moved to the Larimer County Coroner, on the northern edge of Colorado, who will determine the cause of death. At this time of year, rivers, streams and waterfalls are dangerous cold and swift, said the National Park Service, warning visitors to stay a safe distance from quick-flowing waters. Source

Smoke billows over downtown Hartford after fire erupts in building

HARTFORD, CT. (AP) — Thick, gray smoke billowed from downtown Hartford, Connecticut, Tuesday as firefighters tried to quickly douse a fire in the city’s Frontier building.The fire erupted around 3 p.m. at the 10-story building, amid flash-flood warnings prompted by thunderstorms sweeping through the area.By late afternoon, crews extinguished the blaze at the building, which houses a telecommunications company.The cause of the fire was still under investigation, but officials said it started in a storage unit.Photos from the scene showed smoke streaming out of grates on the outside of the building’s bottom floor.There were no injuries, officials said.
