Pennsylvania man bitten on the head by bear during attack in his garage DANVILLE, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania man says he’s paying a lot more attention to his surroundings after a surprise attack by a bear in the garage of his home.John Swartz, 60, and his wife Lori, 59, were watching TV at their home outside Danville on the evening of July 27 when he remembered he had to turn off a hose he’d left running to fill an inflatable pool. So he walked into the two-car garage, where the shutoff valve was located — unaware that a bear had wandered in a minute earlier. The next thing he knew, he said, he was thrown against shelving units, heard a growl and knew immediately it was a bear. When he turned to flee, the bear bit him on the head. Holding his injured head, he stumbled back toward the house, but surveillance video later showed a second encounter with the animal.“Thankfully, the bear didn’t retaliate when I tripped over him,” he told The (Sunbury) Daily Item. His wife, hearing a scream, met him at the door and quickly called 911 as he tried...

As Kyiv’s naval capabilities grow, the Black Sea is becoming an increasingly important battleground in the war.Three weeks ago, Moscow withdrew from a key export agreement that allowed Ukraine to ship millions of tons of grain across the Black Sea for sale on world markets. In the wake of that withdrawal, Russia carried out repeated strikes on Ukrainian ports, including Odesa. An official with Ukraine’s Security Service confirmed to The Associated Press that the service was behind the attack on the tanker, which was transporting fuel for Russian forces. A sea drone, filled with 450 kilograms (992 pounds) of TNT, was used for the attack, added the official, who spoke on condition of anonymi...

DC residents complain about Trump's 'filth' comment: 'Sounds like a lot of lies' WASHINGTON (WDCW) – Former President Donald Trump caused a stir in the DC area after claiming the District is graffiti-riddled and filthy with "decay" and "broken buildings."Trump's comments came after he arrived in Washington D.C. on Thursday to face arraignment for his third indictment case.On Friday, Nexstar's WDCW retraced the former president's journey from Reagan National Airport to the federal courthouse, to see what he claimed he saw on the route.Going over the 14th Street Bridge into D.C., with the Jefferson Memorial on the left, Trump would have seen isolated spots of graffiti on the sides of bridges heading into the Third Street Tunnel.Other than the normal wear and tear of some aging infrastructure, there weren't any broken buildings or walls on the route that the former president took."Basically, it sounds like a lot of lies," D.C. resident Cornelius Scott said of Trump's comments. "He lives in Mar-a-Lago [Florida], you know? So what is he talking about?" DeSantis’ bi...

Texas seasonal allergies: Which ones get better/worse through summer? (NEXSTAR) — We're about halfway through summer here in Texas (the last calendar day of summer is Sept. 22) and while high temperatures don't appear to be checking out for the year just yet, your seasonal allergies could be getting a little better. Movie review: ‘Mutant Mayhem’ a fresh, authentic take on the ninja turtles Radioactive ooze generated the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and “Spider-man: Into the Spider-Verse” has helped birth “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem,” the new animated feature about everyone’s favorite rambunctious, pizza-loving reptiles. Directors Jeff Rowe and Kyler Spears showcase the turtles in a way we’ve never seen them before, utilizing a blend of 3D and 2D animation to create a unique, rough-hewn (on purpose) style that suggests children’s book illustrations blended with teenage sketchbooks. That edgy look is paired with a script that’s funny and fresh, a soundtrack filled with classic New York hip-hop, and a stunning industrial score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. It’s clear that Rowe, Spears and writers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (who also produced the film), Dan Hernandez, Benji Samit and Brendan O’Brien, have a deep love and nostalgia for these lovable ‘80s relics, who were ubiquitous in the childhoods of older millennials. These sewer-dwelling rapscalli...
