Final few days of 90s before rain and storms AUSTIN (KXAN) -- More clouds kept temperatures lower on Sunday, but we still reached the low 90s. A few spotty showers moved through Gillespie and Mason Counties, but the rest of us stayed dry to start the month of October.Tonight any showers in the Hill Country will dry up and clouds will thin out a bit overnight as lows drop into the low 70s.Monday should be a sunnier and hotter day with highs bouncing back into the mid 90s. We'll carry a low (10%) shower or storm chance late in the day, but most of us won't see a thing. Monday's forecastMonday should be the hottest day of the week and, hopefully, the hottest day for the rest of the month.Highs the next few daysTuesday brings back more clouds and higher rain chances (30%) during the afternoon and evening as isolated-scattered storms pop up. Temperatures drop back into the low 90s thanks to the extra cloudcover. Not everyone see's rain, but an "appetizer" of storms and downpours should get some of us wet before the main entrée arri...

Justin Jefferson helps Vikings get some swagger back in 21-13 win over Panthers CHARLOTTE, N.C. — In a game the Vikings absolutely had to win on Sunday afternoon, star receiver Justin Jefferson put the team on his back.He finished with six catches for 85 yards and a pair of touchdowns for the Vikings in a 21-13 victory over the Carolina Panthers. That included an exclamation point from Jefferson during which he channeled his inner Randy Moss to help the Vikings create the separation they so desperately needed. After hauling in a jump-ball pass in the end zone, Jefferson slowly lowered a flat palm to the turf, letting the world know that cornerback D’Shawn Jamison was too small to cover him.Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson catches a touchdown pass against the Carolina Panthers during the second half of an NFL football game Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023, in Charlotte, N.C. Heroes and Zeros from Broncos’ win over Bears: Nik Bonitto gets opportunity and delivers for defense

Heroes and Zeros from Broncos’ win over Bears: Nik Bonitto gets opportunity and delivers for defense Here are the heroes and zeros from the Broncos’ 31-28 win over the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field on Sunday afternoon.HeroesNik Bonitto: The Broncos’ second-year outside linebacker got the start over Randy Gregory and delivered. Denver trailed 28-21 in the fourth quarter when Bonitto burst into the backfield and jarred the ball loose from Bears quarterback Justin Fields, which outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper scooped up and ran 35 yards for the game-tying touchdown with 6:55 left. Bonitto had four tackles (two for loss) and 2 ½ sacks. The Oklahoma product has tremendous speed off the edge, and it was evident Sunday. His only flaw was getting his ankles snatched by Fields before completing a 2-yard touchdown pass to take a 28-7 with 4:11 left in the third quarter. But let’s be real, defending Fields in open space is like guarding Kyrie Irving one-on-one.Jaleel McLaughlin: The Broncos might have found a gem in the undrafted rookie running back. McLaughlin was a spark plu...

Broncos four downs: Over 20 minutes, QB Russell Wilson and Vance Joseph’s much-maligned defense save Denver’s season

Broncos four downs: Over 20 minutes, QB Russell Wilson and Vance Joseph’s much-maligned defense save Denver’s season Initial thoughts from Broncos’ 31-28 come-from-behind victory over the Chicago Bears in Week 4 at Soldier Field:Jeudy. Jeudy? Jeudy!: Remember when Jerry Jeudy had flames shooting off him at the end of last season? Where did that guy go? And why hasn’t offensive wizard Sean Payton been able to unearth him? Jeudy made a textbook all-hands grab on a first-quarter slant that went for 18 yards, part of an impressive 11-play, 84-yard opening drive that ended with Jaleel McLaughlin plunging into the end zone. The number of first-half targets for Jeudy after that? Zip. Nada. Zilch. Zero. Then he opened the second half with a drop, but had two catches for 34 yards during Denver’s torrid rally. Jeudy’s totals through three games: 8 targets, 12 receptions, 106 yards. More is needed. No Justin Simmons, lots of problems: Two games in a row, the Broncos secondary was without safety Justin Simmons. Two games in a row, they got absolutely roasted by an opposing quarterback putting...
