Woman accused of setting fire to Arlington Heights apartment COOK COUNTY, Ill. — An Arlington Heights woman accused of setting her own apartment on fire has been charged, police say.According to Arlington Heights police, the fire started in 51-year-old Paula Cristina Sanchez's apartment in the 300 block of East Seegers Road on Thursday afternoon.Following the fire, investigators say evidence was recovered from the scene that indicated Sanchez had intentionally started the blaze. Security guard hospitalized after shooting in Grand Crossing Village inspectors deemed four nearby units uninhabitable due to damage from the fire, smoke and water.Sanchez has been charged with one count of aggravated arson. Authorities say she will remain in custody until her next court date on November 6.If convicted, Sanchez could face up to 30 years in prison.

But the document marks the beginning of the end of a sometimes contentious three-year process that could result in major changes to the way Minnesota students learn social studies.If approved, the proposed changes will incorporate ethnic studies into state social studies standards for the first time. Those standards would go into effect in the 2026–27 school year.Minnesota law requires the revision of academic standards every 10 years. The shooting happened around 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Gamble Street. Investigators say a 23-year-old man was fatally shot.
